Sara Schley created Seed Systems, an international consulting company founded in 1994, with partner Joe Laur. Seed Systems uses systems inquiry while working with individuals, teams, organizations, and networks to transform organizations and create a sustainable world. Sara has worked in business, non-profit, government and academic sectors; creating, designing, facilitating, teaching and coaching leadership programs and culture change initiatives.
With Seed Systems as incubator for innovation, Sara is the co-creator of the SoL Sustainability Consortium, a network of companies and major corporations including Nike, Shell, Ford, WorldBank, Interface and many more, challenging each other to create best practices in the field. Her clients over two decades in this work include: Chrysler, The Coca-Cola Company, Ford Motor Company, Hewlett Packard, Interface, Inc., Nike, Seventh Generation, Shell Oil, Unilever, World Wildlife Fund, World Bank, and Xerox, among others. Sara is the co-author of The Necessary Revolution: How Individuals and Organizations are Working Together to Create a Sustainable World and Learning for Sustainability. Other publications by Sara can be found on the Seed Systems website. Michael Goodman is an internationally recognized speaker, author, and practitioner in the fields of systems thinking, organizational learning and change, and leadership. Michael has pioneered many innovations in the field of system thinking that have made it more accessible to business and organizational leaders. He has been a practitioner in this work for over 30 years. Michael has published widely, authoring one of the first textbooks in the field, Study Notes in Systems Dynamics, and serving as the primary contributor to the Systems Thinking chapter in the acclaimed Fifth Discipline Fieldbook by Peter Senge, et al. He also contributed articles to two other Senge books: The Dance of Change and Schools that Learn. He also led the development of a web-based Systems Thinking course, Systems Thinking: A Language for Learning & Action. Among his international clients are British Petroleum (Britain, Germany, Australia), Saudi Aramco Oil (Saudi Arabia), World Bank (USA, Philippines), Singapore Police Force (Singapore), Hyundai Corporation (South Korea), Gas Authority of India Limited (India) and Malaysian InfoSciences (Malaysia). His work on consulting projects has included the design and delivery of training sessions, individual coaching, side-by-side work with internal resources, and the engagement of strategic leadership teams to understand complex problems and identify the leverage points critical to their resolution. He is a charter member of the System Dynamics Society and an initial member of the Society for Organizational Learning. He also is an Adjunct Professor at Texas A&M University, Kingsville, Texas. He holds two Masters Degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Michael is also the Principal at Innovation Associates Organizational Learning. Michael O’Heaney, Executive Director, The Story of Stuff Project Changemaker Type:Nurturer - Michael brings over fifteen years experience as an advocate, fundraiser and consultant to his role as Executive Director. As the Project’s lead program developer and fundraiser, Michael focuses on providing the over 500,000 members of the Story of Stuff community with the tailored content and tools they need to engage in collective learning and social change efforts. Prior to joining The Story of Stuff Project, Michael developed fundraising and communications strategies for environmental, civil rights, reproductive justice and media reform organizations as the principal of Channing Way Consulting. He also served as the Development Director of two San Francisco Bay Area-based advocacy organizations—Global Exchange and Pacific Environment. |
